Dr. Tara Kolar Bryan is an Assistant Professor in
the School of Public Administration at the
University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. Bryan is a
nonprofit management scholar whose research
focuses on nonprofit capacity and its relationship
with organizational effectiveness. She teaches
courses in organization theory, strategic planning,
and management.

Here is an exciting announcement from a Latinas Unidas long time member- Julie Pospishil
We received a Futuro Latino grant to make videos for A Time to Heal- Un Tiempo Para Sanar. These free videos will help Spanish speakers learn how to do guided relaxation exercises, positive affirmations and healthy living advice. Everyone is invited to our focus group on November 5th at the South Omaha library to hear more about this program. Attached is the flyer. Please post this at your workplace or forward it to help us spread the word. We will have gift cards as prizes for those that attend.

Carolyn Theile, Get Out the Vote Committee Chair for League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha* will join us. She will share interesting information on voter turnout in recent elections and current LWV efforts to increase turnout. Carolyn takes the mystery out of the voting process. The Latino/a population has an opportunity to make their voices heard in this election …. Ask questions, express your thoughts!
The Heartland Workers Center staff and volunteers will join us to share their project “Voto por Mi Familia” and the fine work they are doing in the community.
*Both these organizations are non-partisan and focus on helping people become informed so they will participate in this very important right we are blessed with in our Nation.

Guest Speaker: Mindy Rush Chipman, Rural Capacity Building Attorney,
Justice For Our Neighbors–Nebraska – As Rural Managing Attorney, Mindy works to promote inclusion state-wide by offering immigration education and advocacy, as well as low-income immigration legal services. Previously, Mindy worked as an attorney at Legal Aid of Nebraska, where she helped develop the Nebraska Immigration Legal Assistance Hotline (NILAH), and earlier had her own general law practice primarily practicing in rural communities.
Note: Learn about the outcome of the The Supreme Court case regarding the President’s Executive order (DACA, DAPA) that was challenged by several states.
