Meeting rescheduled for May 24

Due to severe weather warnings we decided to cancel this evening’s meeting.

We have scheduled the same program for the May meeting:  Tuesday, May 24, 2016 At 6:00 p.m.
Watch for announcement closer to the meeting date.
Up date: Diva’s Dad will be interred in Puerto Rico.  More information at a later date.

TopicImmigration 101 – How it affects our Community

Guest Speaker:  Mindy Rush Chipman, Rural Capacity Building Attorney,

Justice For Our NeighborsNebraska – As Rural Managing Attorney, Mindy works to promote inclusion state-wide by offering immigration education and advocacy, as well as low-income immigration legal services.  Previously, Mindy worked as an attorney at Legal Aid of Nebraska, where she helped develop the Nebraska Immigration Legal Assistance Hotline (NILAH), and earlier had her own general law practice primarily practicing in rural communities.

Note:  this issue is presently being argued in the Supreme Court.  The President’s Executive order (DACA, DAPA) is being challenged by several states.
